Gameday: 2 games to watch Friday night

Charlotte Christian (10-1) at Charlotte Latin (11-0), 7 p.m.: Has anything changed since these teams met Oct. 21 at Charlotte Christian? The Latin Hawks probably hope not, since they posted a 35-10 victory. This time, the CISAA rivals are meeting for the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I championship.

Latin quarterback Bates Jones was a standout in the first meeting, throwing three touchdown passes and running for another.

Christian quarterback Garrett Shrader’s passing and running were key in the Knights’ 28-27 semifinal victory last week over Davidson Day. But the Knights’ secondary has been hit by injuries.

Statesville Christian (9-2) at Fayetteville Trinity Christian (9-1), 7:30 p.m.: This is an NCISAA Division III semifinal featuring two outstanding juniors. Trinity Christian’s Cyier Foy is averaging more than 100 yards of total offense a game, and he has eight interceptions on defense. Statesville Christian’s Canaan Cox has rushed for nearly 2,000 yards in 11 games and has scored 30 touchdowns.
