↑Sage Surratt, East Lincoln: scored his 1,000th career point in a 75-66 playoff win over Newton-Conover Monday. Surratt, who finished with 26 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks, is only a sophomore.
↑Cuthbertson-Weddington: Union County rivals played for the right to go to the state championship football game in December. Tuesday night, they battle for the right to go to the N.C. 3A Western Regional basketball playoffs.
↑Nationally ranked Ardrey Kell: Survived major upset bid to beat Richmond Senior 63-60 and win its 24th straight game Monday. Knights got 18 from Steven Santa Ana and 16 from Josh Freud. Ardrey Kell will host Lake Norman in a rematch of the 2014 N.C. 4A regional semifinal, which Lake Norman won on a buzzer-beater, and a rematch of Ardrey Kell’s 53-39 win at the Hoodies House tournament in December.
↑Mecklenburg County basketball: Six boys teams, including five in 4A, will try to punch their ticket to the Western regionals Tuesday; three local 4A girls teams will play for two spots.

CJ Bryce, North Mecklenburg: 27 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, four steals in a 92-78 win over Berry.
Darah DeWalt, Ardrey Kell girls: 11 points, eight rebounds in a 63-47 win over Southwest Guilford.
Zaqwaun Matthews, Myers Park: 30 points and 12 rebounds in an 80-64 win over East Forsyth. Matthews’ brother, Zailan Peeler, made four of the Mustangs’ 10 3-point shots. East Forsyth made 10 3-point shots.
DD Rogers, Myers Park girls: 16 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in a 74-32 win over Greensboro Page.
Jalen Stowe, Hickory Ridge: 37 points, seven assists and six rebounds in 76-72 loss to Ashbrook. Stowe scored 16 in the fourth quarter.
Chazz Surratt, East Lincoln: 29 points, nine rebounds, six assists in a 75-66 win over Newton-Conover.
Isaiah Whaley, Ashbrook: 6-foot-9 junior center had 32 points, 21 rebounds, nine blocks, three assists and three steals in a 76-72 win over Hickory Ridge.
Monday’s Boys Roundup
No. 6 North Mecklenburg 92, Berry 78: CJ Bryce had 27 and Taj Middleton had 16 points, six rebounds and four assists to spark the Vikings to a sectional championship game at Greensboro Page. Davion Mintz (13), Nolan Beasley (12) and Kendall Coles (12 points, four assists) were all in double figures for North. Quindon Cottman led Berry with 21.
No. 14 Lake Norman 59, No. 8 Hough 55: Lake Norman center Hunter Seacat had 28 points and 12 rebounds as the Wildcats, the reigning N.C. 4A Western regional champions, got within a game of returning. Lake Norman, which got 17 from Trey Ford, made 20-of-31 free throws. Hough made just 2-of-8 and lost star forward Luke Maye (20 points) to fouls in the fourth quarter. Freshman Q’on Murphy had 16 for Hough.
Lake Norman Charter 70, Mountain Heritage 44: Barrett Hancock had 21 points and Malik McCormick added 17. Lake Norman Charter (18-6) held Mountain Heritage to just 16 points in the first and third quarters combined.

No. 1 Myers Park 74, Greensboro Page 32: Myers Park led 36-20 at halftime and broke open the game with a decisive 21-4 advantage in the third quarter. Point guard Aliyah Mazyck had 10 points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists. Chanin Scott added 14 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.
Alexander Central 50, No. 7 Rocky River 27: Madi Suddreth (18 points, 13 rebounds) recorded her 18th double-double of the season as Alexander Central (19-7) easily handled Rocky River (22-5). The Ravens got a combined 21 points from Jordan Soares, Hydeia Harvey and Tanaeschia Dorsey.
South Caldwell 55, No. 8 Mallard Creek 49: Anne Lee Ballingal had 27 points to lead South Caldwell to a tight win. Mallard Creek got 14 points from Emya Price and 10 from Ja’nea Davis.
Albemarle 72, Community School of Davidson 47: Albemarle led by two after the first quarter but was up 41-18 at halftime after a huge second quarter. Kyleigh McLendon had 21 for Albemarle and Jadia Robinson added 20. Cassidy Haddock led Community School (19-7) with 12.
