↑Cox Mill volleyball: 3A winner for the N.C. High School Athletic Association Commissioner’s Cup. Cox Mill won the N.C. 3A state championship now.
↑Providence-Butler softball: The teams have moved their game, scheduled for Thursday, to Saturday at the MARA ball fields in Matthews. Many of the players from both teams grew up in the MARA youth program. Admission is free. The junior varsity game begins at 4 followed by the varsity.
↑Jennae Ann Jacob, Marvin Ridge, cross-country/track: named 2017 Charlie Adams Endowed Scholarship winner. The scholarship is worth $1,500. Jacob, a senior Appalachian State recruit, was a four-time all-conference cross-country runner and is senior captain on the track team. She holds the school record in the girls 800 and is a member of her schools’ Robotics, Beta and Key Clubs and is in the National Honor Society.
The Charlie Adams Endowed Scholarship was created in honor of Charlie Adams, former executive director of the NCHSAA, for his more than 40 years of dedication to helping the boys and girls of North Carolina by offering opportunities to participate in athletics.
↑Battle At The Park girls lacrosse: Myers Park will host rival Charlotte Country Day Thursday in a game to help raise money for charity. Myers Park has partnered with the Charlotte Chapter of Michael’s Way, a charity that provides financial support to families dealign with pediatric cancer. There will be a 50/50 raffle with 50 percent of the money going to Michael’s Way. The junior varsity starts at 5 followed by the varsity.
↑Hough Cookies vs. Cancer: Hough holds its annual fundraiser is Friday and Saturday. On Friday, West Forsyth plays Hough’s girls soccer team at 6. On Saturday, East Forsyth plays Hough at 1. West Forsyth plays Myers Park at 3.
