The N.C. High School Athletic Association state football and basketball championships will be televised by the Sinclair Group beginning in December.

The NCHSAA and Sinclair have an initial agreement for two years to broadcast all of the finals throughout North Carolina on Sinclair stations in Sinclair markets as well as online via station websites. Previously, Time Warner Cable had broadcast the championships via its TWC SportsChannel, which was shut down after the company was bought by Charter Cable.

According to its website, Sinclair has 172 TV stations in 81 U.S. markets, including two in the Greensboro market and two in Raleigh. Sinclair does not have a station in the Charlotte market.

Sinclair will also televise select regular season and playoff games for both football and basketball in their local N.C. markets, continuing their coverage in the Asheville area this season and adding coverage in the Triad and Triangle markets for the 2018-19 season.

“We are extremely pleased to find a partner in Sinclair that shares the values of education-based athletics that we uphold at the NCHSAA,” said NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker. “We are excited for the new opportunities to highlight the great accomplishments of our student-athletes, schools and their communities through this new partnership.”

▪ The NCHSAA Football State Championships are scheduled for Saturday, December 9 and Basketball Championships are slated for Saturday, March 10. A listing of game times and stations will be available on the NCHSAA Website the week prior to the Championships.
