Citing injuries and limited player availability, area high school football team ends season early
Central Academy of Technology in Monroe is ending its high school football season early.
The school will not play its final game of the season Friday at East Montgomery, citing a limited number of players being available due to injury. School officials said in a press release they felt playing the game under these circumstances would lead to “an unsafe playing environment.”
So Central will forfeit Friday’s game. School officials said in the release that “East Montgomery High School understands the school’s position and has accepted the school’s decision to forfeit the game.”
Central Academy is 0-10 and has been shut out eight times. It’s scored 14 points all season. East Montgomery is in Biscoe, NC, about a 90 minute drive from Monroe. The Eagles were 8-2 before the forfeit and improve to 9-2 heading into the playoffs in two weeks.
