No. 3 Charlotte Catholic (10-0, 6-0 Southern Carolina 3A) at Marvin Ridge (10-0, 6-0), 7:30 p.m.: The area’s 3A game of the year features running backs Milan Howard (Catholic) and Caleb Deveaux (Marvin Ridge). Catholic has rolled through the conference schedule; the Mavericks have struggled at times.
High Point Central (9-1) at Providence Day (8-2), 7 p.m.: It’s the private schools’ Division 1 semifinals. The host Chargers must shake off last week’s loss to Charlotte Christian and beat a foe that handed Statesville Christian its first loss of the season last week.
Richmond Senior (7-3, 5-1 Sandhills 4A) at Scotland County (8-1, 6-0), 7:30 p.m.: Southeast North Carolina’s biggest rivalry also will decide the conference title, as usual.
Concord (5-5, 2-2 South Piedmont 3A) at A.L. Brown (8-2, 3-1), 7:30 p.m.: This storied football rivalry dates to 1924. Concord leads the series 48-39-4, but A.L. Brown has won the past two.
No. 11 Shelby (9-1, 4-0 Southwestern 2A) at No. 12 South Point (10-0, 5-0), 7:30 p.m.: It’s the reigning state 2AA champ facing the reigning 3A champion, with a conference title on the line.
Patton (8-2, 5-0 Northwestern Foothills 2A) at No. 13 Hibriten (10-0, 5-0), 7:30 p.m.: With two 1,000-yard rushers, Ty Causby and Will Brawley, the visitors pose one final major hurdle for Hibriten’s bid for an unbeaten regular season.
Mauldin (6-4) at Rock Hill (4-6), 7:30 p.m.: The host Bearcats will try to spring a first-round S.C. 5A playoff surprise against a Mauldin team with a tough defense but an offense that relies almost entirely on its ground game.
