These 7 are the Charlotte Observer’s football players of the week

Cody Cater, Providence Day: Completed 25-of-34 passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns in a 48-14 win over High Point Christian in the first round of the NCISAA Division I playoffs.

Kyle Holcomb, Mason King, Mountain Island Charter: Holcomb was 16-of-18 passing for 418 yards and five touchdowns in a 66-15 win over Highland Tech. King had 11 tackles, two for a loss, plus a sack and interception on defense. He had three catches for 124 yards and a touchdown on offense.

Josh Hollingsworth, West Charlotte: Lions linebacker had three interceptions, two of which he returned for scores, plus 128 return yards and seven tackles in a 50-6 win over Hopewell.

Caleb Hood, Richmond Senior: Completed 24-of-46 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns in a 69-47 loss to Scotland County in the Sandhills 4A championship. Georgia recruit Zamir White ran for 310 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries. He also had a 90-yard kick return for a score.

Milan Howard, Charlotte Catholic: 16 carries, 236 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-21 win at Marvin Ridge in the Southern Carolinas championship game. He averaged nearly 15 yards per carry.

Bryant Young, Statesville: He threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-24 win over West Rowan.

Luke Watts, Community School of Davidson: In a 40-14 win over Pine Lake Prep, Watts ran for 110 yards and threw for 173. He has 4,184 total offensive yards for the season.
