Concord First Assembly signees: Two girls basketball players -- Courtney Meadows (Georgetown) and Shamani Stafford (Prebyterian) -- signed with schools this week.

Arlo Washington, Vance: Made 7-of-9 three-point shot attempts in Tuesday’s 84-55 win over West Meck. Washington finished with 25 points.

Fouling in Northwest Cabarrus-Rocky River game: the teams combined for 69 fouls in Rocky River’s 73-64 win. Two flagrant fouls were called on Northwest Cabarrus.

Carmel Christian college signees: two basketball players (Josh Price, Liberty; Loreilei Roper, Marshall) and one tennis player (Dillon Gooch, UNC-Wilmington) signed with colleges Wednesday. Price is the son of Charlotte 49ers coach Mark Price (photo far right)

Naomi Gilbert, A’lea Gilbert, South Mecklenburg: Naomi Gilbert signed with UNC-Pembroke Wednesday. A’Lea Gilbert signed with Appalachian State Monday. A’Lea Gilbert is a two-time all-conference, two-time all-district star who has 927 points, 646 rebounds. She was the first Sabre to sign a full ride Division I scholarship at the school since Joy Cheek in 2006.

Wednesday’s #BIG5 Top Performers

Noah Allen, Lake Norman Charter: made six 3-pointers in a 80-57 win over Pine Lake Prep. Allen finished with 24 points. Connor Reed added 18.

Renee Alquiza, Hough girls: 21 points in a 64-59 win over Myers Park in overtime.

Tyrese McNeal, LT Thomas, North Gaston: McNeal, a sophomore, had 22 points in a 57-40 win over Sun Valley. Thomas, a freshman, added 16.

Kylie Panizza, Christ the King girls: 24 points in a 44-27 win over Carolina International, nearing outscoring the opponent by herself.

Jaden Springer, Rocky River: Top 40 recruit in the class of 2020 poured in 37 points, 15 rebounds in a 73-64 win over Northwest Cabarrus in his season debut.
