Kings Mountain jumps into the party, Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 poll
Kings Mountain High’s Mountaineers are one of the hottest high school football teams in North Carolina.
And Kings Mountain High’s Mountaineers are, finally, into the Charlotte Observer’s Sweet 16 poll.
Kings Mountain is in at No. 16 this week. The Mountaineers, who play Concord Robinson in a third round 3A home playoff game Friday, have won nine straight games. Kings Mountain has only lost to 2AA power Shelby in overtime, 20-17 on Sept. 15.
Since then, Kings Mountain has won nine straight games, in mostly dominating fashion. For the season, Kings Mountain is outscoring opponents 40-14. It’s won two playoff games by 81 points.
