Tuesday’s #BIG5 Performers

Sydney Bowen, Gastonia Forestview: 16 points, four assists, four steals and two rebounds in a 64-25 win over East Gaston. Forestview is 2-0.

Nevaeh Brown, Central Cabarrus: 15 points, nine rebounds, three steals, two blocks in a 51-45 win over East Rowan.

Mallorie Haines, Catawba Bandys: freshman had 48 points, 10 rebounds and nine steals in a 66-65 win over Claremont Bunker Hill.

Kamiah Moore, West Charlotte: 13 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, block in a 57-39 win over Harding. Tykema Nesbit (13 points, four rebounds, three steals, two blocks) and DaNya Hamilton (12 points, six steals, five assists, three rebounds) also had strong games for the Lions.

Jessica Timmons, North Mecklenburg: 36 points in a 95-56 win over Concord Robinson. Courtney Lewis added 19 for the Vikings, who made 12 3-point shots.

No. 2 Ardrey Kell 80, Weddington 28: Deniyah Lutz had 19 points to lead the Knights (3-0) to an easy win. Ardrey Kell limited Weddington to 14 points in the first half. Erin Addison had 10 points for Weddington (2-1).

No. 5 South Mecklenburg 49, Butler 41: Naomi Gilbert had 13 points; A’Lea Gilbert and Shakyra Harley had 11 each for the Sabres in a tight win against a crosstown rival.

No. 16 Myers Park 57, Providence 54: Myers Park (1-2) trailed by 10 at halftime but started the second half with a 20-8 push to rally. Micahla Funderburk (16 points), Ari Brown (13) and Taylor Henderson (11) led the Mustangs.

Alexander Central 46, Ashe County 44: Keykey Miller of Alexander Central had 23 points, four steals, three assists and two rebounds in a 46-44 win over Ashe County in her season debut.

Independence 50, Olympic 39: Sharonda Smith had 21 points to lead the Patriots. Independence improved to 2-1 and is above .500 for the first time since 2008.

United Faith 38, Greenfield Academy 27: Breya Busby had 17 points, seven steals, five rebounds, five assists and 14 deflections in the win. Ryan Swilling had 14 points, four rebounds and two steals.
