Foot Locker Cross-Country regional championships in Charlotte Saturday
Some of the region’s top high school cross-country runners will be in Charlotte Saturday for the 39th annual Foot Locker Cross-Country Championships at McAlpine Creek Park.
The event is the longest running high school cross-country race in the national and is comprised of four regional 5K races. The Midwest (Kenosha, Wis.) and Northeast (Bronx, N.Y.) regional races will also be held on Nov. 25. The West Regional (Walnut, Calif.) race will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2. More than 10,000 of the nation’s leading high school runners are expected to compete in the regional meets.
In Charlotte, runners from 15 states are expected to compete at McAlpine Park, which has recently undergone major renovations including a widening of the starting line, and the installment of new and wider bridges.
The top 10 finishers from each seeded regional race qualify for the Foot Locker Cross Country National Finals (Dec. 9 in San Diego, Calif.) and will join the likes of Olympian Ryan Hall and American record-holder, Alan Webb.

8:00 a.m. – Open Race and Masters Race
8:30 a.m. – Freshman Boys Race
9:00 a.m. – Sophomore Boys Race
9:30 a.m. – Junior/Senior Girls Race
10:00 a.m. – GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP RACE
10:40 a.m. – BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP RACE
11:10 a.m. – Freshman/Sophomore Girls Race
11:40 a.m. – Senior Boys Race
12:10 p.m. – Junior Boys Race
12:35 p.m. – 13-14 Girls and 13-14 Boys Race
1:05 p.m. – 11-12 Girls and 11-12 Boys Race (3K)
1:25 p.m. – Boys and Girls 10 & Under Race (3K)
