Over his past two games -- against 4A northern Mecklenburg schools Hopewell and Hough -- Reed is shooting 63.3 percent the field and 58.3 percent from 3-point range. He’s averaged 25.5 points in the run.
↑No. 3 Butler at home: The Bulldogs, No. 3 in the Observer’s Sweet 16 poll, held off an upset bid from York Prep Tuesday, winning 55-54 at home. It was Butler’s 23rd straight home win. Bashir Muhammad had a career-high 17 points, making five 3-point field goals. DJ Little had 12 points and nine rebounds. Gerrale Gates had seven points, 10 rebounds and junior Rajuan Conner had a career-high 12 rebounds. Vince Cole had 26 for York Prep (3-4).
Rocky River at Vance game moving to Thursday
Friday’s scheduled Rocky River at Vance basketball doubleheader will be moved to Thursday.
Vance’s football team is playing a N.C. 4A Western Regional championship game Friday night at Harding.

Trey Belin, Marshville Forest Hills: 27 points, 15 rebounds in a 100-71 win over Monroe Parkwood. Nas Tyson (26 points), Jai Rorie (21) and Jaleel McLaughlini (12) had strong games for Forest Hills (2-0), which visits No. 14 Piedmont Friday.
Kenzley Dunlap, Gastonia Forestview girls: 11 points, nine assists, seven steals in a 52-17 win over Belmont South Point.
Kameron Flynn, Ardrey Kell: made a 3-point shot with 2.3 seconds to lift his team to a 58-55 win over Sweet 16 No. 16 Hough (2-2). Flynn finished with 16 points, five rebounds.

Ardrey Kell 58, Hough 55: Ardrey Kell moved to 4-0 with the upset on the road. Christian Pickens had 13 points and Navy signee David Kasanganay added 12. Ardrey Kell plays at Charlotte Catholic Thursday. Cooper Crawford led Hough (3-2) with 19 points.
North Gaston 86, Cherryville 51: Sophomore guard Tyrese McNeal had 24 points for North Gaston and freshman LT Thomas added 14. Senior Austin Primm had 14 points on eight shots. Cherryville got 13 points from Michael Collins and 12 from Justin Alexander, who made four 3-point shots.
Salisbury 66, West Davidson 55: Isaac Baker had 19 points and Oshaun Robinson and Bill Fisher had 10 each for Salisbury in a comfortable win. Salisbury is 2-0. Drew Wright had 24 points for West Davidson (0-3).

No. 1 Ardrey Kell 50, No. 6 Hough 48: The Knights (5-1) escaped a tough road test Friday behind 15 points from D’Shara Booker and 14 from Michelle Ojo. Renee Alquiza had 14 for Hough (3-1). Hailey Gipson added 13.
No. 8 Rock Hill 66 Chester 23: Rock Hill held Chester to four points in the first and fourth quarters of an easy win. Rikoya Andesron had 17 for the Bearcats (2-0). Rana Davis-Robinson had 14 points, three rebounds and two steals; and Abriana Green had 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Gastonia Forestview 52, Belmont South Point 17: Forestview held South Point to three points in the first and third quarters. Yasmine Love had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Jaguars (3-1). Forestview visits Olympic Friday.
Monroe Parkwood 62, Marshville Forest Hills 53: Parkwood got 16 points, seven rebounds, five steals from Molly Setliff; 12 points, four rebounds from Courtney Fink; and nine points, seven steals and five assists from Kennedie Gaither in the win.
