Prep Basketball Update: Friday’s schedule, featured games, area stat leaders
Friday’s Top Games
No. 2 North Mecklenburg (4-0) at Berry (4-1), Fri, 7:30 p.m.: Berry has won four straight games and will hunt a big upset at home in front of what’s sure to be a big crowd. North Meck has been off since blowing out Charlotte Country Day in the finals of its Leroy Holden Challenge last Saturday.
Myrtle Beach Christian (3-1) at United Faith (3-3), Fri, 6 p.m.: The feature game of the Falcon Classic has the five-time S.C. Independent School champions from Myrtle Beach facing a United Faith team stuffed with college recruits. KC Hankton (16 points, 8 rebounds per game) leads the Knights.
No. 11 Kings Mountain (1-2) at No. 1 Cox Mill (2-0), Fri, 7:30 p.m.: Kings Mountain lost to No. 5 Charlotte Christian and N.C. private school power Concord First Assembly, but was missing several regulars who were playing football. The Mountaineers should be taking a complete team to Concord. Cox Mill avoided an upset loss to unranked Rocky River in overtime Tuesday.
