Former Charlotte Christian star BJ Mack decommits from Virginia Tech
Former Charlotte Christian star B.J. Mack has de-committed from Virginia Tech.
Mack is a 6-foot-7 junior center now playing for national power Oak Hill (Va.). Oak Hill (3-0) is ranked No. 3 nationally by MaxPreps.
Mack’s father, Brian, told the Observer that both parties agreed to the decision and that his son was re-opening his recruitment.
“We enjoyed the process and we want to say thank you to coach Buzz Williams, the Virginia Tech staff and Hokie Nation,” Mack said. “He feel it’s best to open up his recruitment and see what other opportunites may be there for him.”
Prior to committing, Mack had offers from College of Charleston, Georgia, N.C. State and Xavier. Mack was a first-team All Charlotte Observer performer as a sophomore at Charlotte Christian. As a freshman at Charlotte Catholic, he was a starter on the Cougars N.C. 4A state champion.
▪ Kobe and Keyshaun Langley, a pair of junior guards at High Point Wesleyan, have also decommitted from the Hokies. The Langleys helped lead Southwest Guilford to a N.C. 4A state championship last season before transferring to the nationally ranked private school power this season.
