Statesville Christian girls: Lions improved to 22-0 beat Colonial Christian 79-25 at the Bobby Jones University Invitational in Greenville, S.C., Wednesday.

North Mecklenburg junior varsity: Well, the North Meck varsity is young and is ranked No. 1 in the Sweet 16. The Vikings return almost all of their team next season. And the future is bright, too. The North Meck jayvee has won 50 straight games over three seasons.

North Mecklenburg varsity: The Vikings won their 11th straight game, beating Mooresville 92-55 Wednesday. Jae’Lyn Withers had 17 points, five rebounds. Demar Anderson had 13 points, six assists, and Shamann Artis had 10 points.

Mackenzie Starnes, South Caldwell: 29 points in a 48-31 win over Lenoir Hibriten.

Wednesday’s #BIG5 Performers

Tee Ballard, Rock Hill girls: 20 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, two blocks in a 48-40 win over Clover.

Jackson Gabriel, Levontae Knox, Jehlon Johnson, Lincoln Charter: In an 88-36 win over Thomas Jefferson, Gabriel made six 3-point shots, had 22 points, plus seven rebounds, six steals and five assists. Knox had 17 points, 13 rebounds, and Johnson had 13 points and 16 rebounds.

Jalen O’Neal, Concord: junior forward scored a put-back layup as time expired in Concord’s 58-57 win over arch rival Kannapolis Brown Wednesday. Concord (10-9, 3-2 South Piedmont) moved into second place in the South Piedmont 3A. O’Neal finished with a team-high 18 points.

Reigan Richardson, Rinnah Green, Hickory Ridge girls: Richardson, a freshman, had 18 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and a steal in an 85-19 win over Independence. Green finished with 15 points, eight steals and three assists.

Luke Stankavage, Ardrey Kell: sophomore had 14 of his 17 points in the first half of a 75-34 win over Providence. Freshman Knoah Carver had 11 for the Knights and Davidson Hubbard had a career-high with eight points. Ardrey Kell is 15-4 overall, 6-2 in the SoMeck.

Move of the night

Independence combo guard Jamarius Burton, who picked up offers from UMass and Towson recently, went baseline for a sweet over-the-top finish against Harrisburg Hickory Ridge Wednesday. Burton finished with 13 points, eight assists, five rebounds and three steals.
