Myers Park’s Henry Shimp wins NCHSAA 4A Western golf regional

Myers Park’s Henry Shimp won the N.C. 4A Western golf regional Monday at Northstone Country Club.

Shimp shot a 69 to tie Hough’s Ben Woodruff and Blake Fiest for first place before the playoff. Fiest beat Woodruff in the playoff to finish second. Providence’s Christian Park was fourth with a 70.

Myers Park won the team title with a total score of 286. Hough was second at 288 and Charlotte Catholic was third at 295.

▪ The N.C. 3A Western Regional is Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at Mimosa Hills in Morganton.
