↑Union County tennis: Marvin Ridge and Weddington meet in N.C. 3A Western Regional dual team tennis championship Wednesday afternoon.
↑Sterling Strickland, Ardrey Kell softball: six strikeouts in 6-2 first round 4A playoff loss to Davie County. Strickland finished season with 154 strikeouts and a 1.33 ERA.
↑Carly Vaccaro, Lake Norman girls lacrosse: five goals in a 10-7 win over Myers Park in the N.C. 4A playoffs Tuesday.
↑Carson Jones, Providence Day girls soccer: five goals in a 7-1 second round NCISAA 3A playoff win over Covenant Day.
Friday’s Top Performers
Owen Armstrong, Charlotte Latin lacrosse: four goals, one assist in a 15-6 win over Greensboro Day in the NCISAA 3A playoffs. Nick Wilson had 12 saves in goal.
Abby Givens, Myers Park girls soccer: three-goal hat trick in 9-0 first round N.C. 4A playoff win over Alexander Central.
Reece Hampton, Charlotte Christian baseball: hit 3-for-4 with an RBI in Christian’s 8-0 win over High Point Christian in the N.C. Independent Schools 3A semifinals. Christian (26-4) will play in the best-of-3 NCISAA final, beginning Friday at Matthew’s Covenant Day School.
Kiana Millsaps, Alexander Central softball: was 2-for-4 with six RBIs in a 23-0 win over East Meck in the first round of the N.C. 4A playoffs. Millsaps (27-0) allowed two hits as a pitcher, struck out five and split the shutout with Makayla Shore and Chsney Millsaps.
Emma Swenson, Butler softball: 2-for-3 with a double and two RBis in a 10-0 first round N.C. 4A playoff win over Greensboro Page.
Stephanie Westaway, Hough girls soccer: Clemson-bound sophomore goalie had a shutout as the reigning N.C. 4A champs opened the playoffs with a 2-0 win over Mount Tabor. Alex Denny and Elise Gallo scored off assists from Emmily Cowie and Sarah Steedman.
Natalie Wallon, Charlotte Catholic girls lacrosse: six goals in a 16-2 playoff win over Marvin Ridge.
Max Wotell, Marvin Ridge baseball: improved to 10-0 with a 7-2 win over Ledford in the first round of the N.C. 3A playoffs. Wotell struck out 12. Connor Paul was 3-for-3 for the Mavericks.
