Nine Observer-area stars make Associated Press all-state teams

Nine Observer-area boys and girls basketball players made the 2017-18 Associated Press all-state teams.

The teams were voted on by 16 media members, including the Observer.

Here are the boys who made the team: Providence Day senior Devon Dotson, Concord Cox Mill junior Wendell Moore, Independence senior Jamarius Burton, Concord Cannon senior Jairus Hamilton, North Mecklenburg unior Jae'Lyn Withers and Unionville Piedmont senior Hunter Tyson.

Dotson was Mecklenburg County player of the year. Moore and Hamilton shared All-Region player of the year honors.
