Where will prep basketball star Wendell Moore play his senior year of high school?

Less than a week after winning a gold medal with USA Basketball, Wendell Moore was playing at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam Thursday, the culminating event of the shoe company’s summer league for its elite travel teams.

And down in North Augusta, S.C., Moore told several reporters, including one from the Observer, that he had scheduled his official college visits. He also told Inside Carolina that he planned to return to Concord Cox Mill High for his senior season.

Moore has led the Chargers to the past two N.C. 3A state championships.

Moore said he and his family had considered a prep school to allow him to play a national schedule and to face better competition in practice.

“I’ll be staying at Cox Mill for my senior year,” Moore said. “There was thought (about going to a prep school) but at the end of the day I wanted to stay.”

Moore lists Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, South Carolina and Wake Forest among his finalists. He told the Raleigh News & Observer that he plans to take his first official visit Sept. 1 at N.C. State. He will visit South Carolina one week later. He plans to visit North Carolina during the Tar Heels annual “Late Night With Roy Williams” preseason celebration.

He said he’s in constant contact with coaches from his five finalists.

“Those five schools are calling me every day,” Moore told the Observer. “If it’s not a call from a head coach, it’s one of the assistants.”
