North Mecklenburg quarterback Aaron Scott threw three touchdown passes and ran for a 71-yard score to help the Vikings stay undefeated and beat visiting Cox Mill 43-24 on Wednesday night.

North Meck couldn’t put away the Chargers for good until the Vikings put together three unanswered touchdowns later in the third quarter.

The Vikings rolled to a 16-0 first quarter lead. But as it did until the fourth quarter, Cox Mill stayed within striking distance. The Chargers went to halftime down 23-17 on Carson Burt’s 38-yard field goal on the final play of the half.

But North Meck struck back with three straight scores, including touchdown passes of 44 and 35 yards from Scott to Da’Quon Stewart and a 15-yard touchdown run by Fabian Duncan in between.

Worth mentioning

▪ North Meck is off to its second straight 4-0 start.

▪ A lot of yards, a lot of penalties. It was true for both teams on this wide-open evening, with Cox Mill and North Meck combining for more than 800 yards total offense. But the yellow flags just as frequently slowed both teams’ momentum.
