↑Fort Mill Comenius boys: the Knights beat Carolina Basketball Academy in their season-opener Tuesday, giving coach O’Neill Palmer his first win. Josh Rubio (10 points, 10 rebounds), Dillon Harrison (14 points, nine rebounds) and Ja’Quan Hemphill (12 points, six rebounds) like Comenius.
↑Metrolina Christian boys: Five double figure scorers in a win over Arborbrook Tuesday: Jake Brockman (16 points), Stephen Clark (15 points, eight rebounds, three assists), Tate Johnson (13 points, six assists), Stowe Griffin (11) and Michael Mason (11 points, five rebounds, three assists)
↑Barrett Kintzinger, Providence Day: drew three charges in a close win over United Faith.
↑Arborbrook Christian girls: beat Metrolina Christian 53-35 and led 23-2 after the first quarter. Breya Busby led Arborbrook with 17 points.
Tuesday’s #BIG5 Top Performers
Trae Benham, Concord First Assembly: Sophomore made 5-of-8 3-point attempts in a 72-49 win over Tri-City. He finished with 21 points. Teammates Isaac Boothe (11 points, six assists) and Cheick Traore (13 points, four blocks) had strong games against Tri-City, which had a starting lineup that included a 6-foot-11 player, a 6-8, a 6-7, a 6-6 and a 6-footer.
Conner Gillis, Gaston Christian: 18 points, 10 assists in a 72-34 win over Cramerton Christian. Blake Lanier (13 points, three assists) and Nick Steward (11 points, 12 rebounds) had strong games for Gaston Christian, which plays Monroe First Assembly Thursday.
JC Tharrington, Seth Bennett, Efosa U-Edosomwan, Charlotte Christian: the senior trio of guards scored 60 of Charlotte Christian’s 97 points in a 97-49 win over Forsyth Country Day. Tharrington, the App State recruit, had 19 points, 10 assists. Bennett had 25 points, nine assists and U-Edosomwan added 16 points, seven assists and four steals.
Alex Tabor, Charlotte Country Day: senior guard made five 3-point shots and finished with 24 points in a season-opening win over Sugar Creek Charter.
Michael Zanoni, Providence Day: freshman led the Chargers with 19 points in a 62-54 win over United Faith.

Charlotte Christian 97 Forsyth Country Day 49: Christian (1-0) led 30-14 after the first quarter and 50-29 at halftime of an easy win. Dartmouth commit Paul Hudson had nine points, 15 rebounds and six blocks. Arden Christ School transfer Peter Lash had 15 points. Christian will play Fayetteville Village Christian in the Phenom Hoops National High School Hoops showcase in Greensboro Day Saturday at noon.
Charlotte Country Day girls 35, Sugar Creek Charter 33: Freshman guard Mary Holland Waters had 17 points, eight rebounds and five steals in her varsity debut for the Bucs.
Davidson Day 65, University Christian 25: Davidson Day allowed six points in the first half of an easy season-opening win. Jackson Threadgill led the Patriots with 14 points and C.J. Huntley and Luke Robinson had 10 each.
Gaston Christian 56, Cramerton Christian 13: Senior Hannah Bonisa had 24 points in an easy win. Sophomore Kylie Hill had 11 points and eighth graders Sara Plyler and Tinity Hall combined for 15 points.
Providence Day 62, United Faith 54: The Chargers (1-1) outscored United Faith 19-9 in the fourth quarter to rally for the home win. Sophomore Cyncier Harrison (16 points, eight rebounds, four assists) and junior Drew Patterson (15 points, seven rebounds, two assists) were in double figures for the Chargers. Junior football star Jacolbe Cowan, playing his first game since ninth grade, had four rebounds.
