Fayetteville Northwood Temple at United Faith, Tuesday, 7: One of the state’s top seniors, Louisville-bound Josh Nickelberry returns to town. Nickelberry was one of the big stars at the season-opening Carmel Christian tournament two weeks ago.

Myers Park at No. 15 Olympic, Tuesday, 7:30: Season-opener for a pair of teams expected to compete for league championships this season -- Myers Park (which will be down some football players) in the Southwestern 4A; Olympic in the SoMeck.

No. 3 Mallard Creek at No. 9 Butler girls, Thursday, 6: A battle of two top 10 Sweet 16 teams should be up-tempo and exciting.

No. 6 West Charlotte vs. No. 2 Charlotte Christian at Vance, Saturday, 7:30: The feature game of the Southeast Hoops Festival will feature multiple college talent on both sides, including West Charlotte’s Patrick Williams, a 6-foot-8 forward signed to Florida State. Williams is a top 40 national recruit.
