Ardrey Kell coach Jeff Buseick: Honored Tuesday for winning his 100th career game last week against Providence Day.

Charlotte Catholic defense: Dane Bertolina had 17 points for Catholic, which held Charlotte Country Day to zero points in the second quarter and just three in the third quarter of a 41-16 win. Catholic is 2-0. Country Day (3-1) lost for the first time. Bertolina scored 16 first half points.

Davidson Day defense: The Patriots, No. 4 in the Sweet 16, got 25 points from sophomore Mallorie Haines, a Davidson commit. Davidson Day didn’t allow a second half point in a 64-14 win over Caldwell Academy.

Tuesday’s #BIG5 Top Performers

Jordan Durant, Fort Mill Comenius: Sophomore had a quadruple double in Tuesday’s 62-29 win over Metrolina Christian: 17 points, 13 rebounds, 12 steals, 11 assists. Teammates Paola Martinez (20 points, nine rebounds, five steals, five assists) and Somer Wilson (15 points, 11 rebounds) also had strong games.

Aniya Finger, Hopewell: Scored all 19 of her points in the second half of a 65-39 win over Lake Norman Charter. Her scoring outburst sparked a 22-4 run that decided the game.

Shariah Gaddy, South Mecklenburg: Presbyterian recruit had 17 points, six rebounds in a 54-51 win over Butler. South Meck is No. 10 in the Sweet 16; Butler No. 9. South’s Senali Moss had a career-high 12 points to go with five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Freshman Kaite Houpt had a career-high nine points.

Nyla McGill, Providence: 10 points, eight assists, seven steals, four rebounds in a 58-9 win over East Meck.

Reigan Richardson, Concord Cannon School: 30 points, 10 rebounds in a 49-24 win over Sugar Creek Charter. Cannon is 3-1.

Tuesday’s Roundup

No. 1 Vance 73, West Mecklenburg 8: Layla Wall had 11 points to lead the Cougars (2-0) who won easily. Vance led 44-3 at halftime. Tanajah Hayes had 10 for Vance. Diamond Law had all eight for West Meck.

No. 3 Mallard Creek 93, Concord Robinson 14: Mallard Creek allowed four points in the second half of an easy win. Dazia Lawrence, a Charlotte 49ers recruit, had 18 points, six assists and five rebounds. Teammates India Howard (12 points, five rebounds, four steals) and Sydney Hunter (14 points, nine rebounds, three steals) also had strong games.

No. 5 Ardrey Kell 61, Harding 38: Michelle Ojo had 11 points and eight rebounds in an easy win over Ardrey Kell (3-0). The team was tied at 11 after the first quarter, but Ardrey Kell outscored Hough 37-17 over the next two quarters.
