Wednesday’s Wrestling Update: Porter Ridge gets key win
Indian Trail Porter Ridge opened its Southwestern 4A Conference wrestling season Wednesday night with a big victory over a traditional power.
The Pirates beat visiting Butler 64-12. It was the opening conference match for each team, and it was part of a double dual meet for Porter Ridge.
In the other match, the Pirates fell to Union County rival Unionville Piedmont 50-21.
Porter Ridge is now 10-2 on the season.

Hough 74, Hopewell 6: The Huskies opened I-Meck 4A competition with a lopsided victory.
Monroe Central Academy 71, Cheraw (SC) 12
Monroe Central Academy 68, Chesterfield (SC) 12: The victories improved Central Academy’s record to 6-0.
