Tuesday’s Roundup: Myers Park 4-peats Porter Ridge in NCHSAA first round

East Lincoln senior John Bean: Senior honored for scoring his 1,000th career point in Tuesday’s NCHSAA playoff win. His team has made 15 straight postseason appearances. The Mustangs have made at least the second round in 13 of those years.

Hickory Ridge girls balance: four double figure scorers in a 76-42 win over Olympic: Nia Daniel 19 points, Lauren Ruggiero 17 points and five steals; Kennedy Calhoun 17 points, eight assists; and Jadah Shears, 12 points, two steals, two assist and four rebounds.

Myers Park: had tough task of trying to beat a team four times in one season. The Mustangs got 19 points from Kameron Mack and 16 from Drake Maye and beat the Pirates 61-60 at home. Porter Ridge ends the season at 12-12.

Fletcher Abee, Morganton Freedom: game-high 30 points from Freedom’s all-time leading scorer in an 89-71 first round win over West Henderson. West got 30 points from Ben Bryson.

Ralph Black, Vance: 18 points, four rebounds, three steals, three assists in a 68-56 win over Hough.

Anthony Breland, Lincoln Charter: freshman had a great high school playoff debut with team-high 18 points in a 79-38 win over Cherokee.

Caleb Carrawell, Concord Cox Mill: team-high 28 points in a 103-45 win over Asheville Erwin.

David Pino, Charlotte Catholic: game-high 22 points in a 52-47 win over Gastonia Ashbrook.

Tuesday’s Girls #BIG5 Top Performers

Dazia Lawrence, Mallard Creek: game-high 30 points in a 64-60 win over Myers Park. Myers Park trailed 48-33 heading into the fourth quarter and made a furious rally behind Taylor Henderson (28 points) and Andrea Shire (20).

Jordan McLaughlin, Berry girls : game-high 21 points in a 51-45 win over Providence. It was the teams’ fourth meeting. Berry has beaten Providence, No. 12 in the Sweet 16, three times in two weeks.

Senali Moss, South Mecklenburg: 17 points, 11 steals, 10 rebounds for freshman in her playoff debut. She led the Sabres to a 54-43 win over Hopewell. Senior Shariah Gaddy had 16 points, seven rebounds.

Jessica Timmons, North Mecklenburg: 27 points in a 67-59 win over Pfafftown Reagan in the first round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs. Jordan Jenkins added 15 for North Meck.

Addie Wray, Claremont Bunker Hill: game-winning shot with 1.3 seconds left to beat Canton Pisgah. Wray finished with a team-high 21 points. Carter Gibson had 22 for Pisgah.
