Iredell County star named Charlotte Observer girls basketball player of the week

Langtree Charter School’s Emerie Tillmon is the Charlotte Observer girls basketball player of the week.

Tillman, a 5-8 junior point guard, received more than 20,000 votes out of the more than 41,000 cast. She finished ahead of Ashe County’s Audrey Craven, Bunker Hill’s Addie Wray and Lake Norman Charter’s Jillian Villanti.

Last week, Tillmon averaged 16 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists to help her school, located in Mooresville, beat Salem Academy, at A.L. Brown and at Christ the King last week.

Tillmon’s best game of the week was against A.L. Brown, where she scored 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds, five steals and five assists in the 59-41 victory.

Tillmon averaged 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals per for Langtree Charter, during a 7-0 start to the season.
