Cannon School names new director of athletics

Katie LaRue is the new director of athletics at Concord’s Cannon School.

She will begin her new position July 1.

LaRue is currently AD, dorm parent and a head coach at the Madeira School in McLean, VA, where she has worked for three years. For five years before that, LaRue was associate AD and head girls basketball and volleyball coach at Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, PA.

She’s also been assistant AD, head girls basketball coach and math teacher at the Asheville School.

“I am very excited to join Cannon School as the next Director of Athletics,” LaRue said in a statement. “From the moment I stepped on campus, it was clear that Cannon is a caring community focused on developing quality relationships. Building a successful athletic program through leadership development and team building is my passion. I look forward to working alongside strong student-athletes, quality coaches, supportive parents, and an active, involved community.”
