Charlotte Country Day star wins Observer girls basketball player of the week

Charlotte Country Day’s Laila Hankerson is the Charlotte Observer girls basketball player of the week.

The 5-foot-4 freshman guard averaged 16.5 points per game in wins over Greer (SC) and Miller School (VA) in the She Got Game Classic at Olympic High Dec. 20-21.

Hankerson had 14 points and three steals in a 57-47 win over Miller School Dec. 20.

The next night, Hankerson had 19 points, four rebounds and four assists in a 67-36 victory over Greer (SC).

Hankerson is averaging 15 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals per game for the Buccaneers (8-3) this season
