No. 1 North Meck at No. 15 Hough highlights busy Tuesday prep basketball schedule

Tuesday’s key Observer-area games

No. 1 North Mecklenburg (12-1, 3-0 I-MECK 4A) at No. 15 Hough (11-2, 3-0), 7:30: Both teams are tied with Vance (11-1, 3-0) for first place. Hough can be a very tough place to play if it’s sold out. Expect it to be sold out.

No. 9 Hopewell girls (10-3, 2-1 I-MECK) at No. 1 Mallard Creek (10-1, 2-1), 6: Both teams are chasing North Mecklenburg (10-2, 3-0) and Lake Norman (10-0, 3-0) in the league standings, so this showdown has some extra spice.

No. 11 Olympic (8-4, 2-1 SoMECK) at No. 10 Ardrey Kell (11-3, 3-0), 7:30: The two league favorites meet for the first of two regular-season meetings. Olympic was upset by Berry (6-4, 2-0) earlier this season and a loss would drop the Trojans two games behind Ardrey Kell in the loss column.

Charlotte Latin (12-4, 0-0 CISAA) at Charlotte Christian (9-4, 0-0), 7:30: Traditional rivals are legitimate league title contenders. Christian starts multiple freshmen; Cannon multiple sophomores. This rivalry will last awhile.

Moravian Prep (18-1) at Victory Christian (8-8), 7 p.m.: N.C. State fans may want to get out to Victory Christian Tuesday. Future Wolfpack players Josh Hall and Shakeel Moore will be playing for Moravian. Hall, a 6-8 wing, averages 24 points, 4.4 rebounds per game. Moore, a 6-foot point guard, averages 14.4 points, 3.9 rebounds.
