Iredell County star is Charlotte Observer boys basketball player of the week
After a huge late voting push, Pine Lake Prep’s Jacob Morgan is the Charlotte Observer boys high school basketball player of the week.
Morgan, a 6-foot-6 junior forward, averaged 26.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in wins over Queens Grant and Union Academy last week.
Morgan had 20 points and 10 rebounds in a 65-49 win over Queens Grant Jan. 7.
He followed that up with 33 points and seven rebounds in a 83-79 victory over Union Academy Jan. 10.
Morgan is averaging 17.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for Pine Lake Prep.
In the voting, Morgan received more than 23,000 votes, many in the final 48 hours to win over Charlotte Latin’s Graham Calton and Cannon School’s Jarvis Moss.
