Caldwell County star is Charlotte Observer girls basketball player of the week

West Caldwell High’s Jaleah Battle is the Charlotte Observer girls basketball player of the week.

Battle received more than 19,000 votes, finishing ahead of Freedom’s Josie Hise and Fred T. Foard’s Alexis Wolgemuth.

A 5-foot-11 senior, Battle had 28 points, 16 rebounds and drew three charges to lead West Caldwell to a 49-46 win over West Iredell on Senior Night Feb. 7.

Battle moved into the top five all-time scorers of West Caldwell girls’ basketball history in the same game.

Battle also had 26 points and 12 rebounds in a 74-45 loss to Bunker Hill on Feb. 4.
