Providence High star named Charlotte Observer girls basketball player of the week
Providence High School’s Amari Davis is the Charlotte Observer’s girls basketball player of the week.
Davis, a 5-foot-10 senior, averaged 16.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and three steals per game last week when the Southwestern 4A champion Panthers picked up wins over Ardrey Kell, Harding and Olympic.
Davis had 23 points, six rebounds and three steals in a 51-50 win at Ardrey Kell Feb. 14.
On Feb. 11, she had 19 points, 15 rebounds and three steals in a 54-43 win over Olympic.
Davis also had eight points, four rebounds and three steals in only 11 minutes of action in a 65-18 victory over Harding Feb. 10.
This week, Davis garnered nearly 33 percent of the vote to finish ahead of East Rowan’s Adalle Harrison and Myers Park’s Mia Xerras. There were more than 29,000 votes cast.
