Charlotte Catholic star is Observer’s ‘Ultimate’ girls player of the week

Charlotte Catholic’s Imelda McMenamin is the Charlotte Observer girls basketball ‘Ultimate’ player of the week.

McMenamin was one of 14 area players to win player of the week during the season. The Observer took all of the weekly winners and asked voters to name an overall winner.

McMenamin received more than 30,000 of the 68,000-plus votes that were cast. She finished ahead of Providence Day’s Morgan Kelson and Freedom’s Blaikley Crooks.

A 5-foot-7 sophomore, McMenamin averaged 12 points, three rebounds and two steals for the Cougars, who finished the season 22-6.
