Concord offensive line, Draughn defensive star win Observer HS football weekly awards

Here are this week’s winners of the Charlotte Observer high school football offensive and defensive players of the week.

Defense

Will Price, Draughn: in a 32-2 win over Rosman last week, Price had eight tackles, two pass breakups and two interceptions. He returned both intercpetions for touchdowns, covering 41- and 66-yards. He has five interceptions this season, a new school-record, and he has returned three for touchdowns.

Offense

Concord High offensive line: Will Howard, Joey Reali, Caius Hartsell, Bryant Cruz, Bryson Overcash and Justin Garland paved the way for 412 yards rushing in a 48-14 win over Northwest Cabarrus last week. Concord ran 52 run plays and no passing plays. Three different running backs scored six times. In the five games before this past Friday night, this group had helped Concord rush for 1,923 yards.
