Central Academy’s Jonathan Kamenick, Union Academy’s Evan Mitchell are Observer AOTWs
Here are this week’s Charlotte Observer high school athletes of the week:
▪ Jonathan Kamenick, Central Academy Soccer: The Cougars’ senior forward had two goals and one assist in a 4-0 win over North Davidson in the first round of the 3A state playoffs Nov. 1.
Kamenick also had a goal in a 2-1 second round victory over Ledford Nov. 4.
▪ Evan Mitchell, Union Academy cross-country: The Cardinals’ junior ran a personal-best 17:38.52 to finish 11th at the 1A State Championship at Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville Nov. 6.
Mitchell, also the 1A Midwest Regional runner-up, is a starter on the Union Academy boys’ soccer team, whose season ended in a 2-1, double overtime loss to Thomas Jefferson Academy, Nov. 1.
