A state champion joins the Observer’s Sweet 16 as teams jockey for position
The state champion Cabarrus Warriors are into the Charlotte Observer’s Sweet 16 poll.
The Warriors beat Harrells Christian 34-31 to capture the N.C. Independent Schools Division II state championship.
Elsewhere in the poll, Maiden (13-0) shoots up to No. 3 from No. 6 after beating previously unbeaten Salisbury. Salisbury fell six spots to No. 10.
Crest and Providence Day each moved up four spots into the top 10.
Providence Day won the NCISAA Division I state title Friday.
