The NC Super Team: the state’s top offensive high school football players of the year
Here are the offensive players who made the 2021 fall N.C. Super Team.
The N.C. offensive player of the year is Omarion Hampton of Cleveland High School. The defensive player of the year is James Pearce of Chambers High.
The coach of the year is Cardinal Gibbons Steven Wright

FIRST TEAM OFFENSE
QB: Byrum Brown, Rolesville, 6-4, 195, Sr: South Florida recruit was a finalist for N.C. Mr. Football. He threw for 3,817 yards and 43 touchdowns; rushed for 1,173 yards and 13 touchdowns.
RB: Omarion Hampton, Cleveland, 6-1, 220, Sr.: Mr. Football in North Carolina is a UNC recruit who ran for 1,948 yards and 39 touchdowns and caught 11 passes for 272 yards and three scores.
RB: Daylan Smothers, Chambers, 5-11, 190, Jr.: Mr. Football from the spring 2021 season was a finalist in the fall. Ran for 1,581 yards and 28 touchdowns and led his team to third straight state championship game.
R: Jack Larsen, Charlotte Catholic, 6-3, 223, Soph: No. 2 at his tight end position nationally, Larsen had 22 catches for 353 yards, accounted for 40 percent of all of his team’s completions; dominant run blocker
R: Noah Rogers, Rolesville, 6-3, 190, Jr.: Had 1,432 yards receiving and 22 touchdowns for a 4A state semifinalist. Rogers is a Power 5 recruit.
R: Wesley Grimes, Millbrook, 6-2, 180, Sr: Wake Forest recruit set school records for single-season yards (1,594), TDs (26) and longest catch (97). Has 2,659 career receiving yards and 39 touchdowns.
OL: Sam Whitt, East Surry, 6-0, 270, Sr.: 4-year starter was a conference player of the year as a junior. Carolina Bowl pick led an offense that produced nearly 6,000 total yards and 37 points per game.
OL: Josh Noble, West Rowan, 6-4, 290, Sr: Conference offensive lineman of the year had 52 pancake blocks on offense, plus 31 tackles, three sacks on defense; Carolina Bowl pick.
OL: Tim Hogan, Leesville Road, 6-5, 285, Sr.: Left tackle helped his team rush for more than 2,200 yards. Elon University recruit also made Blue Sheet N.C. All-Academic team.
OL: Jamaal Jarrett, Grimsley, 6-5, 332, Jr.: Plays both ways at Grimsley, and was recently offered by Alabama as a defensive lineman, where he had 30 tackles, 9 for a loss.
OL: Sam Pendleton, Reagan, 6-4, 276, Jr: Helped pave way for a team that amassed more than 4,000 yards of offense. Power 5 recruit thought to be leaning towards Michigan by 247 Sports.
LS: Ben Anderson, Charlotte Latin, 6-4, 235, Sr.: ranked as a 5-star by Rubio Long Snapping, Anderson has offers from Nevada, Georgia Southern and Power 5 interest
K: Nolan Houser, Hough, 5-11, 160, Soph: repeat first-team pick made 67-72 PATs, 21-of-26 FGs with a long of 48. His 130 points tied an 19-year-old NCHSAA record for most in a season by a kicker.
KR: Izay Bridges, Shelby, 5-8, 155, Soph: Averaged 48.5 yards per return and scored 3 TDs. Also caught 63 passes for 1,216 yards and 14 touchdowns for the state 2A champs.
ATH: Kevin Concepcion, Chambers, 6-0, 175, Jr: Power 5 recruit ran for several touchdowns, caught 38 passes for 586 yards and 10 touchdowns and had two punt return touchdowns.
