Providence Day girls stop Christian

The Providence Day Chargers varsity girls’ team kept rolling with a 60-25 victory over Charlotte Christian. Jordyn Latter lead the Chargers with 18 points while Rachael Noonan paced Charlotte Christian with eight points.

“These are important conference games late in the season,” said Providence Day coach Josh Springer. “I was happy that we got off to such a fast start tonight. Christian was also shorthanded with one of its best players out for the game and that was unfortunate for them.”

The Chargers coach was still excited about Providence Day’s huge win one week ago over one of the top teams in state, when they defeated Charlotte Catholic 48-27 on the Martin Luther King holiday.

“Catholic is a terrific team, Bobby Conrad is an outstanding coach and the Cougars are loaded with talent. I liked our intensity on both ends of the floor, and Chandler Brooks had a great game defensively for us. We’re 17-2 after tonight’s win, with a big game at Cannon Friday night.”

Cannon handed Providence Day one if its two losses this season, a one-point defeat on January 11.
