Butler High’s Ty Black is Charlotte Observer boys athlete of the week

The Charlotte Observer boys high school athlete of the week is Ty Black of Butler High School.

The 6-foot senior averaged 21.3 points per game last week, making 19 three-pointers in wins over East Mecklenburg, Garinger and Providence.

Black had 20 points, including six three-pointers, in a 62-50 win over Garinger Jan. 24.

He also had 24 points, including six more threes, in a 66-50 victory over Providence Jan. 26.

Black finished off the week with 20 points in an 86-65 win at East Mecklenburg Jan. 28.

Black is averaging 17 points and three rebounds per game for Butler.
