No. 8 North Meck upsets No. 2 Chambers on the road

North Mecklenburg’s girls picked up a huge win over the road, beating Sweet 16 No. 2 Chambers 52-46. The Vikings won their eighth straight game behind huge nights from freshman Jocelyn Grier (15 points, six rebounds), Nevaeh Farmer (11 points, five steals) and Dearia Page (14 points, three rebounds).

After a slow start when all of its scoring came from guard Mia Holloway, Chambers got going and held North Meck to three points in the second quarter, but Farmer kept the Vikings it in as Chambers tried for a knockout punch in the third quarter.

Down four going into the final period, North Meck fought back with tough defense and Page made the game-winning jump shot and took a charge late that gave the Vikings a monster Queen City 3A/4A win that ties them with Chambers atop the league standings.
