Talking Preps: the NC high school playoff preview show

A new Talking Preps debuts Monday night at 8. On tap:

The N.C. private school playoffs continue Tuesday night and the NCHSAA playoffs tip off. The crew breaks down the bracket, plus some first round and potential later round matches to look forward to. On the private side, we take a look at Tuesday’s state semifinals.

Mallard Creek girls coach Karlyn Dixon explains how her team earned a postseason bid but had to alert the NCHSAA that it couldn’t accept it -- and why.

Harding coach LJ Johnson and star Logan Blair discuss the team’s slow start and how the Rams have rebounded to win the SoMECK conference tournament and head into the postseason hot.

Chelsea sits down with Heritage guard Justin Monden, who raised his scoring average 10 points to nearly 24 per game this season.

Rick and Randall trim the Mr. and Ms. Basketball Watchlists to eight and there are some new faces.

Rick and Alex debut the latest “All-North Carolina” rankings for the state’s top 20 boys and girls teams. Conference tournament week (and NCISAA early round playoffs) brought big changes to the polls.

And on the ‘Coach vs. Coach’ segment, Randall and Gary debate whether or not the NCISAA should create a super playoff division, whether a selection committee should replace the NCHSAA’s computer-based playoff model, and whether or not the NCHSAA should put regional semifinals and finals back at neutral sites.
