Reader’s Choices for HS wrestlers of the year from Cabarrus and Union Counties
Earlier this month, we asked readers to vote for the 2021-22 Charlotte-area wrestlers of the year. After more than 260,000 votes in four polls, here are your selections.
The nominees were boys state champions and girls semifinalists and finalists from area public and private schools.
▪ The private schools’ wrestler of the year is Cannon School’s Kenlee Griffin. He won the NCISAA state title at 152 pounds.
▪ The 3A/4A wrestler of the year is Piedmont’s Noah Cauble, who captured the NCHSAA state title at 106 pounds.
▪ The 1A/2A wrestler of the year is Mount Pleasant’s David McEachern, the NCHSAA 2A state champoin at 126 pounds.
▪ The girls wrestler of the year is Hickory Ridge’s Reagan Smith, who finished third at the NCHSAA championships at 185 pounds.
