South Mecklenburg High sophomore Brody Taylor is the Charlotte Observer high school baseball player of the week.

Taylor got 43 percent of the vote this week to finish ahead of North Mecklenburg’s Kyle Wade and Hopewell’s Tyler Howe.

Taylor, a Sabres’ sophomore, went 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBI in a 9-1 win over Berry on March 15.

Taylor also went 3 for 6 at the plate with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in a 7-6, nine-inning victory over Cox Mill on March 18.

At the start of the week, Taylor was batting .538 with two home runs and 11 RBI for South Mecklenburg.
