Cannon School golfer Coleman Ward is The Charlotte Observer’s boys high school athlete of the week.

The Cougars’ sophomore shot a 2-under-par 69, with seven birdies in his round, to lead Cannon School to a 25-shot victory over Carmel Christian at Emerald Lake Golf Club April 25.

Ward also shot a 2-over-par 74, to tie for second individually, while leading his Cannon School team to a fourth-place finish at the Wesleyan Classic at the Grandover Resort April 29.

Ward also shot 80 in a match at Pinehurst No. 8 April 27.
