Charlotte Christian’s Sydney Francois is The Observer’s girls athlete of the week

Charlotte Christian softball player Sydney Francois is the Charlotte Observer’s girls athlete of the week.

The Knights’ freshman second baseman went 6-for-10 with two doubles and four stolen bases as Charlotte Christian won road games at rivals Charlotte Country Day and Charlotte Latin.

Francois went 2-for-5 with two stolen bass and two runs scored in a 10-0 win at Charlotte Latin April 26.

She also went 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, two stolen bases and three runs scored in a 12-1 victory at Charlotte Country Day April 28.

Francois was batting .500 with five doubles, 19 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases for a Charlotte Christian team (14-1) that had won 12 straight games through Sunday.
