Weekend Rewind: Providence, Hough, Mallard Creek, Ardrey Kell, Olympic win track titles
Providence High swept the boys’ and girls’ team titles in the Southwestern 4A Conference Track and Field Championships held last week at Butler High.
Mecklenburg County’s other major conferences saw splits, with the Hough boys and Mallard Creek girls leading the way in the Queen City 3A-4A championships, and the Ardrey Kell boys and Olympic girls taking team titles in the South Meck 4A meet.
The next step for the area’s track and field athletes is next weekend’s Regional-level meets. Top qualifiers from those competitions advance to the state championships, set for May 20 and 21 at N.C. A&T University in Greensboro.
