Talking Preps NC: new state rankings, games of the week and a look ahead to Week 4

Week 4 of Talking Preps NC is live Tuesday (9.6.22) at 8 p.m. On tap:

In “Rapid Fire,” the guys debate whether or not there’s one “biggest rivalry in North Carolina,” or does every area have one; also we discuss 3-0 Independence, Ardrey Kell’s defense, whether Shelby can come back from 0-3 -- and has Gary really given up on his Cowboys?

During the segment, Independence coach DJ McFadden will stop by to discuss his team.

Grice has his “Grices Gems” for Week 3, the N.C. players of the week: Ny’Tavious Huskey, Crest; Whitt Newbauer, Cardinal Gibbons; Caden Morton, New Hanover; Will Rhodes, Burlington Williams; and Providence’s Luke Bailey.

Chambers senior quarterback Anshon “Bubba” Camp stops by to talk Friday’s big game in Harrisburg, committing to Old Dominion and he’ll take on Sam on “The Game Show.”

Chelsea sits down with Apex High’s Ian Bright, and Alex asks if schools should start thinking about playing in front of empty stadiums after more fan violence breaks out.

We’ve got new N.C. statewide rankings and we’re adding private schools to the mix. Alex also has his 10 games to watch in the state Friday.

Providence High coach Wes Ward drops by to talk about Bailey’s 9 TD performance, plus Hickory Ridge’s Jupiter Wilson and Chambers’ Brandon Wiggins talk about the NC Game of The Week Friday: Chambers at Hickory Ridge.

Grice and Gary introduce four new Fresh Faces: Porter Ridge’s Jason Hertz, Palisades’ Jarek Patulski, North Meck’s Elijah Sellars and Wake Forest’s Zane Williams.

Finally, on ‘Coach vs. Coach,” Sam and Chris and Grice debate whether having more all-star games in December is a good thing, are “mill town” football powers a thing of the past, and is Luke Bailey’s peformance one of the best in state history -- in any sport.
