Covenant Day’s Tucker Collins is The Observer’s HS football offensive player of the week

Covenant Day’s Tucker Collins is The Charlotte Observer’s high school football offensive player of the week.

The sophomore running back had 19 carries for 154 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-20 win over Asheville Christian last Friday.

More than 100,000 votes were cast and Collins narrowly beat out Mooresville’s Jawarn Howell and HIckory Ridge’s Anthony Hawkins.

To nominate a player, have your coach reach out to us or email prepstats@charlotteobserver.com. Submissions must come in before Saturday at 5 p.m., and stats will have to be confirmed before a player can be considered.
