Mooresville High’s Jay Wilson is The Charlotte Observer’s high school football defensive player of the week.
After more than 17,000 votes, Wilson finished ahead of Myers Park’s Win Byerley and Porter Ridge’s Stephan Zayachkowsky.
In a 40-28 come-from-behind win over Providence, Wilson had a game-sealing interception, plus six tackles and three pass breakups.
