It’s pretty hard to crack The Observer’s Sweet 16. Here’s 8 teams just waiting to get in

There are five unbeaten teams in The Charlotte Observer’s Sweet 16 poll, but there are also at least four more that could be in.

There’s not much change in the rankings this week. Charlotte Christian fell five spots to No. 12 after losing to private school powerhouse Rabun Gap on the road Thursday.

But the ranked teams may be looking over their shoulder at unbeatens like Lake Norman, Forest Hills, Chase and Pine Lake Prep, plus some one-loss teams enjoying big years like Burns, Watauga, Monroe and Salisbury.

All eight of those teams are good enough to be ranked in what’s turning out to be a deep year of solid teams in the region.
